Usually most couples getting married follow tradition or what everyone usually does. I think there’s nothing wrong with going that path, but then there’s a few who believe in expressing their tastes and personalities…doing things in a different way…some call them mavericks, innovators or bohemians.
There’s a growing trend in the U.S. now where couple’s choose to meet privately before they go to church. “When a bride and groom get a moment to themselves on their wedding day, it frees them to express their truest emotions…” according to Jasmine Star, a leading and popular U.S. wedding photographers. I personally follow Jasmine to get inspired and I love how her personality shines in her blog, you get a sense of how real and intimate she gets when she writes.
This really goes contrary our Filipino tradition, that couples should not see each other before the church, so that the groom will really excited and anxious to see his bride. I’m sure if you decide to do this, you will raise a lot of eyebrows especially from your parents.
What do you think? Are you different enough to meet before you say I do at church?
What do I think? Why not!
Any couple of mine I’ll be shooting willing to do this? Let’s do it! If you want to learn more about this, here’s Jasmine Stars blog about the First Look.
